Box Score Box Score

HONOLULU -- The No. 13 University of Hawai`i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team (12-4, 5-0) remained unbeaten in conference play with a 30-16, 30-21, 30-26 victory over SMU (7-9, 2-3) at the Stan Sheriff Center Sunday.

Kim Willoughby again led the Wahine with 22 kills (1 error), 13 digs and four blocks, while hitting .553. Maja Gustin added 13 kills, while Lauren Duggins played a great all around match with eight kills, eight digs and six blocks.

Hawai`i was breezing through the match when starting setter Margaret Vakasausau left at 8-8 in game two due to a nagging injury to her hip that she initially suffered at Louisiana Tech. Jen Carey was able to come in and take over the offense as she had 23 assists and one block solo to lead the Wahine to 30-21 and 30-26 wins in games two and three.

Vakasausau is diagnosed with a hip contusion that was further aggrivated Sunday and she's listed as day-to-day.

UH will head to the road with three matches in the state of California. The Wahine will open up with San Diego State on Wednesday Oct. 17, before heading north for matches at San Jose State and Fresno State on Oct. 18 and 20. The San Diego State and San Jose State matches are set for 7 p.m. PT with the Fresno State match being played at 12 p.m. PT.
