Biography

2002 (Senior): Played in 112 games on the season...totaled 901 assists witn 238 digs...only once did she not post double figures in assists...had a season 49 assists vs. UCLA (9/2).

2001 (Junior): Had a breakout year as she won the starting job at setter after the third match of the season…started the last 32 games of the season…named first-team all-Western Athletic Conference…had double-doubles in assists and digs in 13 matces including the last six matches of the season…netted a career-high 73 assists in the five-game thriller at San Jose State (10/18)…led the WAC with a 12.73 assist per game average…named to the HAL Wahine Classic all-tournament team after leading Hawaii to a come-from-behind victory over Kansas State (8/31)…also named the lone setter on both the WAC tournament and Banker’s Classic all-tournament teams.

2000 (Sophomore): Played in 32 of 33 matches as the backup setter to Jennifer Carey…recorded six double-digit assist matches…averaged 0.22 kills, 3.92 assists and 1.14 digs in 50 games played…highlight of the season was when she netted 20 assists, one kill, and two digs.

1999 (Freshman): Played an important role as defensive specialist and backup setter…saw action in all 31 matches and 88 games…averaged 1.45 digs per game…started two matches at setter in place of an injured Jennifer Carey, dishing out 38 assists vs. TCU (10/1) and 37 against Fresno State (10/3)…in TCU match, also recorded six digs and five blocks and in Fresno State match, had seven digs and three blocks …notched only double-figure dig total of 11 at SMU (11/12)…served up two aces in a match four times…in WAC play, averaged 1.76 digs per game.

Prep: A 1999 graduate of University High School in Honolulu…earned three letters in both volleyball and basketball, and two in paddling…in her senior year, was named first team all-state while leading the Junior ’Bows to a second place finish in the state tournament.

Personal: Born in Honolulu…is a speech major at the University of Hawai`i…chose UH because of the coaches, players and fans…also recruited by Fresno State, Iowa and Rutgers…enjoys playing beach volleyball, surfing, reading and browsing the internet… career goal is to be a pilot…favorite athletes are soccer star Mia Hamm and volleyball player Fiona Nepo …other favorites include Mexican food, the movie “Ace Ventura” and the colors green and white…has one sister, Litiana…parents are Kathryn and Ilaitia Vakasausau of Honolulu.
