Hee Yong Woo

A native of Seoul, Korea, Hee Yong Woo is entering his fourth year as an assistant coach with the Wahine.
 
“He has got to be one of the most accomplished technical soccer teachers in the world,” head coach Pinsoom Tenzing said. “We’re blessed to have him on the staff.”

Woo comes to the Hawai`i soccer program with a wealth of experience having played professionally in Korea (1987-1990) and Germany.
 
He starred in the German second division (1990-1995) before turning to coaching there from 1995-1997.
 
Before ascending to the professional ranks, Woo lettered two seasons for Jung Ang University in Seoul.  Woo captained teams to Korean National League championships in 1988 and 1989.
 
An astounding ball-skills performer, Woo has showcased his act at many international sporting events.
 
Besides opening at the 1990 and 1994 World Cups, Woo also performed at soccer legend Pele’s 50th birthday celebration.  He also performed at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul and has made numerous television appearances in the U.S., England, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Australia, and Portugal.
 
In 1989 Woo set the Guinness Book world record for head juggling at five hours, six minutes and 30 seconds.
 
Woo has a five-year-old son, Daoli.
