Alex Delanian

Alex Delanian is entering his 12th year on the University of Hawai‘i women's basketball coaching staff and fifth season as associate head coach. His primary responsibilities include working with post players, offensive strategy, and international recruiting. 

He began his UH career as Director of Operations in the 2013-14 season and became an assistant coach the following year. He was elevated to associate head coach for the 2017-18 season, then spent a year serving the same role at UC Santa Barbara. He rejoined the UH coaching staff for his second stint with the program in spring of 2018 and became associate head coach again in 2022.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
  • Helped lead UH to Big West regular-season championships in 2015, 2022, 2024 and 2025, and conference tournament championships in 2016, 2022 and 2023.
  • In 2022, UH won the Big West regular season and conference tournament championships in the same year for the first time in program history.
  • Served as an associate head coach with UH for the 2016-17 season, as well as UC Santa Barbara in 2017-18.
  • Upon his return to the program in 2018, the ‘Bows were picked to finish as No. 6, but his offensive philosophy led them to a second-place finish.
  • As an assistant coach or associate head coach at UH, the ‘Bows have been to the semifinals or championship game of the Big West Championship every year except for one.
  • Career 128-57 record in Big West play as an assistant/associate coach (.691 winning percentage)
