Spencer McLachlin, an experienced international volleyball player, was named assistant coach of the University of Hawai‘i men's volleyball team in 2015.
A 2007 graduate of Punahou School in Honolulu, McLachlin played outside hitter in volleyball and center in basketball. He continued his volleyball career at Stanford University, and was an outside hitter for the Cardinals from 2008-2011. McLachlin completed his undergraduate in 2011 with a degree in Political Science and also pursued his Master’s degree in Education, graduating in 2012. During his time there, McLachlin was assistant coach for the Bay to Bay Volleyball Club, working with both the 14’s and 17’s clubs. He eventually went on to become head coach of the Bay to Bay 14’s club from 2011-2012.
Following his coaching career in California, McLachlin went on to play as an outside hitter at the professional level for Greek Pro volleyball team, Mas NIKI Aiginio. McLachlin played for Mas NIKI Aiginio from 2012-2014.
In 2014, McLachlin returned to the United States to work as a teacher at Punahou School. In September of 2014, he began working as a volunteer assistant for the University of Hawaii Men’s Volleyball Team through their entire season.
McLachlin enjoys surfing, beach volleyball, fantasy football, and basketball.
