David “Happy” Gilmore begins his first year as a graduate assistant for the Warrior football team. Gilmore returns to Hawai`i after a stellar four-year career with the Warriors from 2000-03. 

 

After playing primarily on special teams as a freshman and sophomore, Gilmore became a key part of the UH secondary the next two seasons. The native of Albuquerque, N.M. played all 28 games with 20 starts at safety in 2002 and ’03 as the Warriors made back-to-back Hawai`i Bowl appearance. Gilmore finished his career with 142 tackles, two sacks and three interceptions and was a three-time academic all-Western Athletic Conference honoree.

 

Gilmore graduated from Hawai`i with a degree in travel industry management in 2003. He is currently pursuing his master’s degree in kinesiology and leisure science.
