Jerry Kleman begins his first year as an assistant coach at the University of Hawai‘i and his second with the program in 2018, being elevated from volunteer assistant in December 2017. He serves as the assistant coach for hitting, infield, and recruiting for the Rainbow Warriors.
Kleman began his tenure at UH as the volunteer assistant coach in 2016. Prior to coaching at UH, Kleman coached at Mesa Mountain View High School in Mesa, Arizona. He also assisted with other high school programs.
Kleman was born in Ohio, but grew up in Arizona where he was a graduate of Desert Ridge High School in 2009. Kleman’s senior year, he led his team to a state championship along with his team being ranked 1st in the nation. Following high school, he played at South Mountain Community College where he was awarded first team all-conference and first team all-state honors at shortstop. Kleman would go on to play his final two years at Hawai‘i, graduating in 2014 with a Bachelors of History degree.
Kleman earned his Masters degree in special education from Grand Canyon University in 2017. He is married to the former Heather Delgado of Horizon City, Texas; a UH track and field/cross country alumna.
