Dan Cox completed his second season with the University of Hawai‘i baseball program after being named assistant coach and recruiting coordinator of head coach Rich Hill's inaugural staff in the summer of 2021. Cox began his collegiate coaching career after spending 26 years in Major League Baseball, including 21 years as a scout for five different MLB organizations (Minnesota Twins, Atlanta Braves, Toronto Blue Jays, Los Angeles Angels, MLB Scouting Bureau).

COACHING/SCOUTING HIGHLIGHTS
  • Helped Hawai'i ink the No. 52 class in the country and fourth-best class in The Big West in the Class of 2023 according to Perfect Game.
  • Served as the Braves scouting representative in Hawai'i prior to joining the Rainbow Warriors, Atlanta took Dylan Spain (a former UH Hilo pitcher) in the 10th round of the 2021 MLB Draft. 
  • Drafted Kolten Wong and Tyler Anderson out of high school while working for the Minnesota Twins in 2008.
  • Got his first job in professional baseball in sales with the Dodgers and Angels before getting a job in baseball operations as an assistant to the Angels General Manager in the late 1990's.
  • Started MLB's Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (R.B.I) program in Hawai'i.
  • Given a scholarship to learn to become a scout for the Minnesota Twins, who drafted Kolten Wong in the 16th round in 2008 - although the Rainbow Warrior legend turned down professional baseball for Les Murakami Stadium where he would become a first-round pick.

  • Professional scout covering Kansas City Royals and Colorado Rockies in 2012 for Toronto Blue Jays

  • Drafted Kolten Wong and Tyler Anderson out of high school
