SERIES INFORMATION
  • San José State retained possession of the Dick Tomey Legacy Trophy with its sixth straight win over Hawaii.
  • Four of those losses have come in Honolulu and the Warriors dropped to 13-17 against the Spartans in Honolulu and 22-25-1 all-time against SJSU.
  • The 48 all-time meetings between the two schools is the second-longest series for Hawai‘i against any opponent, trailing only the 57 meetings between UH and Fresno State.
 
UH IN THE MOUNTAIN WEST
  • UH is 39-75 (.342) all-time in the MW, including 23-36 (.390) at home.
  • Timmy Chang is 13-21 in MW games with a 9-9 record at home.
 
TEAM STREAKS/TRENDS
  • The Warriors lost for just the third time in their last 12 games at Ching Complex dating back to the final game of 2024.
  • UH has held its opponent to 20 points or fewer for the seventh time in its last 12 games at Ching.
  • UH is now 1-22 when scoring 20 points or less under head coach Timmy Chang including 0-3 this season.
  • UH lost the turnover battle for the third time this year and is 4-23 under Chang in such scenarios.
  • UH did not force a turnover for the fourth time in five games this year. Since the start of last year, UH is 0-6 when forcing no turnovers in a game. 
  • UH trailed at halftime for the fourth time this season, all resulting in losses. Hawai‘i is now 4-29 when trailing at the half under Chang.
  • Hawaii has won the coin toss in each of its first five games and has deferred each time.
 
INDIVIDUAL STREAKS/TRENDS
  • Elijah Palmer has played in a team-high 29 straight games dating back to the 2024 season.
  • Micah Alejado threw just his second interception in 257 attempts and saw his streak of 97 consecutive attempts without an interception come to an end with a second-quarter pick by SJSU’s Jayden Robertson.
 
TEAM NOTES
  • UH lost despite racking up a season-high 438 yards and out-gaining San Jose State by 114 yards. The ‘Bows went just 1-of-2 on red zone chances and turned the ball over twice.
  • It was the first time the team had multiple turnovers in a game this season.
  • UH trailed 14-0 at half. The last time UH was shutout in the first half was at Wyoming on Nov. 18, 2023 (35-0).
  • UH committed a season-high 12 penalties for 85 yards. All but one of the penalties were committed by the offense.
  • The Warriors had a season-high seven explosive pass plays, including the team’s longest play from scrimmage this year when Micah Alejado connected with Devin Alves on a 58-yard touchdown.
  • UH registered a season-high seven tackles-for-loss.
 
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
  • Micah Alejado recorded his second 300-yard game of the season and seventh of his career, finishing with 341 yards on 23-of-35 passing.
  • Alejado now has 5,052 career passing yards, becoming the 11th Rainbow Warrior to surpass the 5,000-yard milestone.
  • He is the fourth-fastest UH QB to reach 5,000 career passing yards in terms of games played (20) and fifth-fastest in terms of attempts (705).
  • Alejado also cracked the UH career top 10 in passing yards, moving into 10th and passing Gregg Tipton, Sean Schroeder and Raphel Cherry.
  • He also moved into seventh in Rainbow Warrior history with 466 career completions.
  • Devin Alves had his best game as a collegiate receiver with three catches for 121 yards and his first touchdown as a Rainbow Warrior with a 58-yard catch-and-run in the third quarter.
  • He also had a 49-yard reception earlier in the quarter to set up a UH field goal.
  • Alves is the third Rainbow Warrior to rack up a 100-yard receiving game this season.
  • Sean Olvera-Harle went 3-of-3 on field goals versus the Spartans, his second straight home game he nailed all three of his attempts.
  • Among the field goals were a pair of career-long 44-yard field goals – one in the third quarter and one in the fourth.
  • The senior is now 9-of-11 on the season, including 3-of-4 on attempts of 40 yards or longer.
  • Nick Delgadillo made his first start of the season and the second of his career. Delgadillo finished with one catch for 11 yards.
  • Julian “Juju” Smith recorded his first career sack with a takedown of Luke Weaver early in the second half before following up with his second sack later in the quarter.
  • Senior safety Matagi Thompson led UH with eight tackles, tying his career high that he set last week versus Wyoming.
