What is the Letterwinners Club Legacy Initiative?
A multi-phased approach to create gathering places, celebrating, honoring, and sharing the University of Hawai’i’s rich athletic history and inspire future generations. The school’s athletic heritage is a source of pride for its fanbase, former/current players, and will be the entry point for prospective recruits to enter the Rainbow Warrior/Wahine athletic ecosystem.
What are the initiative’s phases?
- Phase 1: Update and revitalize public facing display showcases within the SimpliFi Arena at the Stan Sheriff Center and Les Murakami Stadium, to share memorabilia, mementos, and awards of the basketball, volleyball, and baseball programs.
- Phase 2: Develop the Ewa corridor of the SimpliFi Arena at the Stan Sheriff Center into a “Legacy Path”, consolidating the various display cases into an area where fans can understand the rich history of the basketball and volleyball programs.
- Phase 3: Develop a space for a "Legacy Wall" where the profile of each University of Hawai'i Letterwinner can be displayed and/or accessed by the fanbase.
- Long-Term Vision: To develop a facility ("Heritage Hall") within the University of Hawai'i's athletics complex that will share the legacy and heritage of all sports programs.
