SERIES INFORMATION
  • UCLA has won all five meetings in the series,  including the previous match-up, 44-10, in the 2021 season-opener at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.
  • The three-point margin was the closest of the five contests with UCLA winning the previous four each by double-digits.
  • UH and UCLA played in Honolulu for the first time since a 32-7 Bruin win on Jan. 2, 1939.
  • The teams are scheduled to play again in 2027 (Honolulu) and 2028 (Pasadena).
 
UH VERSUS THE BIG TEN
  • Hawai‘i dropped to 14-46 (.233) all-time against current members of the Big Ten.
  • UH has lost its last 15 games against current members of the Big Ten, 10 of which were against new members (USC, UCLA, Oregon, Washington).
  • UH’s last win over a current Big Ten team was against Washington in 2007.
  • Prior to that, Hawai‘i’s last wins over Big Ten opponents were over Purdue (2006), Michigan State (2004), and Northwestern (2004), all of which were played in Honolulu.
 
TEAM STREAKS/TRENDS
  • UH saw its three-game winning streak in the Ching Complex end with Saturday’s loss. The run dating back to last season was the team’s longest home winning streak since moving into the facility in 2021.
  • Hawai‘i has dropped its last 11 games on national television and 14 of its last 15 dating back to the start of the 2021 season.
 
INDIVIDUAL STREAKS/TRENDS
  • Brayden Schager made his 24th straight start at quarterback dating back to 2022. That streak is the third longest in program history. Bryant Moniz has the record with 26 from 2009-11 followed by Garrett Gabriel (25 from 1989-90).
 
TEAM NOTES
  • Hawai‘i played before a sellout crowd of 15,194. It marked the first sellout since Ching Complex’s seating capacity prior to the 2023 season.
  • UH played its first game on network television in 12 years and dropped to 0-8-1 all-time in those games.
  • UH’s all-time record in the month of August is 8-11 (Division I era).
  • Both teams rushed for less than 100 yards (UCLA - 71, UH - 51). The last time that happened in a UH game was in last years season opener at Vanderbilt (UH - 40, Vandy - 39).

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
  • Pofele Ashlock scored his first touchdown of the season and the 10th of his career on a 19-yard pass from Brayden Schager in the first half.
  • Ashlock finished with nine catches for 112 yards. It marked the third career 100-yard receiving game for the sophomore receiver.
  • Jalen Smith recorded his first career interception when he picked off Ethan Garbers in the endzone to stuff a Bruin drive in the first quarter.
  • Logan Taylor posted his second career interception when he picked off Ethan Garbers late in the second quarter.
  • Kansei Matsuzawa converted on his first collegiate field goal attempt when he connected on a 28-yard attempt as the first-half clock expired.
  • Matsuzawa converted on another 28-yarder in the third quarter.
  • Junior college transfer Christian Vaughn had his first carries for UH, finishing with five attempts for 16 yards. `
  • Lucas Borrow tied his career-high with a 65-yard punt in the third quarter. He also had a pair of 65-yard punts during his time at Ball State.
  • Through the first two games, Borrow is averaging 44.5 yards on 13 attempts, including four of 50+ yards.
  • UH’s leading rusher was Borrow who converted on a fourth-down run of 19 yards on the Warriors’ first possession of the game. It marked the second straight year that a punter led UH in rushing during a game (Matthew Shipley, 17 yards vs. San Jose State).
  • Junior receiver Nick Cenacle made his first career start as a Rainbow Warrior and finished with five catches for 35 yards.
  • USC transfer Jamar Sekona made his first start at UH and recorded one tackle-for-loss.
  • Jaheim Wilson-Jones saw his first action of the year and had two pass break-ups in the second half.
