  • This was the first meeting between the squads.
 
UH VERSUS THE FCS
  • UH has won its last 21 games against FCS teams dating back to 2001 with an average win margin of 25.7 points per game.
  • Hawai‘i opened the season against a non-FBS opponent for the 11th time and improved to 9-2 in those games.
 
TEAM STREAKS/TRENDS 
  • UH won its first season opener since 2020 after dropping its three previous openers. UH is 5-3 in its last eight season openers.
  • UH won its first home opener in the Timmy Chang era. UH had dropped its previous two home openers. Overall UH has won seven of its last nine home openers.
 
INDIVIDUAL STREAKS/TRENDS 
  • Brayden Schager made his 23rd straight start at quarterback dating back to 2022. That streak is the third longest in program history. Bryant Moniz has the record with 26 from 2009-11 followed by Garrett Gabriel (25 from 1989-90).

TEAM NOTES
  • Hawai’i is 64-39-5 (.612) all-time in season openers, including a 31-29-1 mark against collegiate opponents.
  • UH’s 35 points is the most it has scored in 27 games under Timmy Chang. 
  • The 21-point margin of victory is the largest by UH under Chang.
  • UH returned a punt for a touchdown for the first time in 12 years when Tylan Hines scored on a 44-yard return late in the first quarter. The last punt return for a TD was Scott Harding’s 69-yard return vs. UNLV on Nov. 12, 2012
  • UH has a 4-4 all-time record in Week 0 including a 2-1 mark at home.
  • UH’s all-time record in the month of August is 8-10 (Division I era).

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
  • Tamatoa Mokiao-Atimalala scored UH’s first touchdown of the season on an 11-yard reception from Brayden Schager in the first quarter. It was his third career touchdown and first since the 2022 season.
  • Dekel Crowdus scored his first career touchdown for the Rainbow Warriors on a 29-yard catch from Schager in the third quarter
  • Landon Sims’ 29-yard dash in the first quarter was the longest of his career, eclipsing a 22-yard run at Vanderbilt in last year’s season opener.
  • Jackie Johnson III recorded his career sack when he stripped the ball from Delaware State quarterback Marqui Adams in the second quarter.
  • Jamar Sekona recorded a sack in his first career game for the Rainbow Warriors with a second-quarter takedown of Marqui Adams.
  • Brayden Schager scored a pair of rushing touchdowns (15 and 1 yards respectively) for his first multi-rushing touchdown game of his career. He now has four career rushing touchdowns.
  • Sophomore Jamih Otis enjoyed a career game, racking up 11 total tackles, including eight solo stops. He had his first career sack among his 2.5 tackles for loss.
  • Tylan Hines 83 punt return yards were the most by a UH player since 2012 (94 yards by Scott Harding vs. UNLV).
  • Rainbow Warriors making their first career starts were Zhen Sotelo (RG), Dekel Crowdus (WR), Elijah Robinson (DL), Tariq Jones (DL), Dion Washington (DL), Jamih Otis (LB), and Kilinahe Mendiola-Jensen (DB). Kuao Peihopa, who started all 13 games last year at defensive tackle, started his first career game on the offensive line at right guard.
