SERIES INFORMATION
  • UNLV retained possession of the Island Showdown Trophy with its second straight win over UH.
  • UH still leads the overall series 19-15 and suffered just its fourth home loss to the Rebels in 17 meetings in Honolulu.
  • The win was UNLV’s first in its last four trips to Honolulu and just its second in the last nine visits.
  • The visiting team won for just the third time in the last 16 meetings.
  • The teams have played 18 times in conference play with the series tied 9-9 (UH 3-2 in WAC and UNLV 7-6 in Mountain West).
 
UH VERSUS THE MOUNTAIN WEST
  • UH is 33-68 (.327) all-time in the MW, including 19-33 (.365) at home.
 
INDIVIDUAL STREAKS/TRENDS
  • Brayden Schager extended his school-record streak of 32 straight starts at quarterback, a streak that dates back to 2022.
  • Sophomore receiver Pofele Ashlock has caught a pass in all 22 games he has played in during his career. 
 
TEAM NOTES
  • UNLV set UH opponent highs in total offense (465), total plays (76), rushing yards (290) and rushing attempts (48).
  • The last time two opposing players rushed for 100+ yards against UH was Tyler Nevens (152) and Kairee Robinson (111) of San José St on Dec. 5, 2020.
  • UH tied a season low with 14 pass completions (also versus Nevada).
  • UH committed a turnover on its opening drive for the first time this year when Brayden Schager was intercepted on the second offensive play of the game.
  • UH had its first punt blocked since last season (vs. San Diego State) when Ricky White III blocked Lucas Borrow’s attempt into the endzone for a UNLV safety.
  • The 29 points allowed by UH was the most at home this season (previously 28 vs. Boise State). UH entered the game having allowed an average of 15.6 points in five home games this season.
 
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
  • Brayden Schager made his 36th career start. Schager moved past Colt Brennan for sole possession of  No. 2 all-time among QBs in school history. The UH record is 50 starts by Timmy Chang.
  • Dekel Crowdus’ 74-yard connection from Brayden Schager was UH’s longest pass play since Zion Bowens’ 93-yard touchdown reception versus Colorado State on Nov. 20, 2021.
  • It was Crowdus’ second touchdown this year and his first since the season opener vs. Delaware State.
  • Jonah Panoke had his first multi-touchdown game of his career with catches of 49- and 5-yards in the second half. The 49-yard catch was a career-long.
  • Panoke finished with a team-high six catches for 90 yards. Both were season highs.
  • Kansei Matsuzawa nailed a career-long 41-yard field goal in the second quarter.
  • Matsuzawa, who also hit a 33-yarder in the third quarter, converted multiple field goals for the fourth time this year. The junior is now 10-for-13 on field goals on the season.
  • Lucas Borrow had his second punt of greater than 60 yards this year when he had a 63-yarder late in the second quarter. Borrow had a career-long 65 yard punt vs. UCLA earlier this year.
  • Tariq Jones led UH with a career-high 10 tackles. It marked the second time this season a UH defensive lineman finished with double-digit tackles (Elijah Robinson, 11 at San Diego State).
  • Robinson finished with eight tackles, including 1.5 sacks. Robinson is second on the team in tackles (43), while leading in sacks (5) and tackles-for-loss (10.5).
  • Junior offensive lineman Judah Kaio made his first career start at left guard in place of Zhen Sotelo.
