SERIES INFORMATION
  • San Jose State retained possession of the Dick Tomey Legacy Trophy with their fourth straight win in the series.
  • It’s the longest win streak for the Spartans in the series.
  • The Spartans have now won three straight games in in Honolulu (2020, ’21 and ‘23).
  • San Jose State now leads the series 23-22-1, including 16-13 in Honolulu.
  • The road team has won eight of the last 11 meetings and 11 of the last 16.
 
UH IN THE MOUNTAIN WEST
  • Hawai‘i is now 28-64 (.304) all-time in the Mountain West — including 16-31 at home.  
 
TEAM STREAKS/TRENDS 
  • Hawai‘i saw its streak of five straight homecoming wins come to a close. UH’s last homecoming loss came in 2016 with a 41-38 loss to UNLV.
  • UH has been shutout in the first quarter in four of the last five games.  
  • UH has committed at least one turnover in eight of nine games this season.
  • After not losing a fumble through the first four games of the season, UH has lost a fumble in each of the last five games and seven total.
  • UH has lost the turnover battle in seven of nine games this season and had equal turnovers in the other two.
  • UH turned the ball over three times (two interceptions, one fumble) against San Jose State. The Warriors have combined for 11 turnovers in the last three games.
  • After not giving up a 100-yard rusher through the first seven games of the season, UH gave up its second straight with Kairee Robinson finishing with 146 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries.
 
 
INDIVIDUAL STREAKS/TRENDS 
  • DT John Tuitupou made his 22nd consecutive start and QB Brayden Schager made his 18th consecutive start.
  • Schager saw his 17-game streak of throwing at least one touchdown pass come to a close. It was the fourth-longest active streak in the country coming into Saturday. The last time prior to tonight that Schager did not throw a touchdown pass was Sept. 17, 2022 versus Duquesne.

TEAM NOTES
  • UH fell to 41-30-1 all-time in Homecoming.
  • UH was shutout for the first time since a 38-0 road loss at Utah State in 2017.
  • The last time UH was shutout at home was in 1998 in a 28-0 loss to SMU.
  • UH was shutout in the first half for the first time this season. The last time UH was shutout in the first half was last season at Fresno State (Nov. 5).
  • UH has been out-scored 196-78 in the first half this season, including 97-24 in the first quarter. The Warriors have trailed at the half in eight of nine games this season.
  • UH set season lows in total offense (198), total plays (57), first downs (14) and pass completions (20).
  • UH’s 9-play, 29-yard drive that took 3:08 was the team’s longest in plays, yards and duration in its opening drive all season.
  • San Jose State’s 93-yard touchdown drive in the first quarter was the longest by a UH opponent this season.
  • Kairee Robinson’s 52-yard touchdown rush in the third quarter was the longest run UH has surrendered this season.
  • UH dropped to 2-4 in Mountain West home games under Timmy Chang.
  • Nine different UH players caught a pass versus SJSU. At least eight different players caught a pass in eight of UH’s nine games this season.
 
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
  • Quarterback Jake Farrell made his first career appearance as a Rainbow Warrior with 6:45 remaining in the game.
  • The junior finished 3-of-8 for 14 yards and one interception.
  • Sophomore safety Peter Manuma led UH with a team-high seven tackles. It was the fourth time in nine games he has led the team in tackling.
  • Isaiah Tufaga recorded his second career forced fumble and his first since the 2020 season when he stripped Quali Conley late in the first quarter.
  • The fumble was scooped up by Virdel Edwards II, who recorded his first career fumble recovery.
  • Elijah Robinson recorded his first sack as a Rainbow Warrior with a fourth-quarter takedown of Chevan Cordeiro.
  • Freshman nickelback Elijah Palmer returned from a two-game absence and recorded one tackle.
