SERIES INFORMATION
  • San Diego State defeated UH for the fourth straight time and now leads the overall series 25-11-2.
  • The Aztecs have won 19 of the last 23 in the series.
  • SDSU has a 13-7-2 advantage in games played in Honolulu, where they have won five of the last six games.
  • The Aztecs have won 10 of the 12 match-ups since the teams have met as Mountain West rivals from 2012.
  • Five of the last six meetings have been decided by seven points or less.
 
UH IN THE MOUNTAIN WEST
  • Hawai‘i is now 28-62 (.311) all-time in the Mountain West — including 16-29 on the road.
 
TEAM STREAKS/TRENDS 
  • UH failed to score in the first quarter for the fourth straight game. The Warriors have been outscored in the first quarter by a combined 76-17 this year.
  • UH has lost the turnover battle in five of seven games this season and had equal turnovers in the other two.
  • Hawai‘i has dropped its last 10 games on national television and 13 of its last 14 dating back to the start of the 2021 season. UH is 0-4 on national TV this season.
 
INDIVIDUAL STREAKS/TRENDS 
  • DT John Tuitupou made his 20th consecutive start and QB Brayden Schager made his 16th consecutive start.
  • Schager has thrown for at least one touchdown pass in 16 consecutive games dating back to last year. It’s the sixth-longest active streak in the country. The last time Schager did not throw a touchdown pass was Sept. 17, 2022 versus Duquesne.
 
TEAM NOTES
  • UH’s 34 points was a season high. The Warriors entered the game having scored 20 points or less in each of its last three games, averaging 16.7 points per game during that span.
  • UH also set season highs for total offense (480), passing yards (427), and turnovers (4).
  • A game after giving up a season-high six sacks at UNLV, the Warriors allowed a season-low one sack versus San Diego State.
  • UH also had a season-low two penalties for 11 yards.
  • UH had two 100-yard receivers for the first time since 2021 after both Steven McBride (157) and Nick Cenacle (100) reached the plateau.
  • UH had its first punt blocked since 2021 (at Nevada) when Eric Butler blocked Matt Shipley’s attempt after UH’s first possession.
  • Brayden Schager’s 62-yard connection with Steven McBride in the was the longest play from scrimmage this year.
  • Mekhi Shaw’s 69-yard catch from Jalen Mayden in the fourth quarter was the longest play from scrimmage by a UH opponent this year.
  • A UH running back scored for the first time this year when Landon Sim’s plunged into the end zone from two yards out in the fourth quarter. UH’s previous two rushing touchdowns were by quarterbacks Brayden Schager and Dalen Morris.
  • UH’s 91-yard touchdown drive in the second quarter was its longest of the season.
  • UH dropped to 2-3 in Mountain West home games under Timmy Chang.
  • Ten different UH players caught a pass on the evening, the third time that has happened this season (also versus Stanford and Oregon). At least eight different players caught a pass in six of UH’s seven games this season.
  • After not having a lost fumble through the first four games of the season, UH has lost five fumbles in the last three games, including three versus the Aztecs.
 
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
  • Brayden Schager threw for a career-high 427 yards on 29-of-47 yard passing and tossed three touchdowns. It was his second straight 300-yard passing game and fourth overall this season.
  • With 5,051 career passing yards, Brayden Schager darted into the top 10 in career passing yards at UH, surpassing Gregg Tipton (4,775), Sean Schroeder (4,838), and Raphel Cherry (5,046) for the No. 9 spot all-time.
  • Steven McBride recorded his second straight 100-yard receiving game, finishing with 157 yards on just five catches. 
  • McBride made catches of 65 and 62 yards. The 65-yard catch in the fourth quarter was UH’s longest play from scrimmage this year.
  • McBride has four catches of 50 or more yards in the last two games. 
  • In all, McBride has a combined 11 catches for 337 yards receiving the last two games.
  • Pofele Ashlock scored his fourth touchdown of the season on a 17-yard catch from Brayden Schager in the second quarter.
  • Nick Cenacle scored his first career touchdown on a 52-yard catch-and-run on the final play of the third quarter. Cenacle finished the game with three catches for a career-high 100 yards.
  • Alex Perry scored for the third time in the last four games with an 8-yard catch in the second quarter.
  • Landon Sims scored his first career touchdown on a two-yard run in the fourth quarter.
  • Peter Manuma posted his first interception of the season and the third of his career with a second-quarter pick of Jalen Mayden.
  • Manuma also added nine tackles – one short of his career high – to co-lead the team.
  • Meki Pei also had nine tackles, one short of this career high.
  • Matthew Shipley nailed a season-long 46-yard field goal in the third quarter only to exceed that the very next quarter with a 47-yarder in the final minute of regulation.
  • He is now 9-of-10 on field goals this year with his only miss coming from 51 yards out.
