SERIES INFORMATION
  • UNLV regained possession of the Island Showdown Trophy with its first win over UH since 2017. UH had won the last three meetings.
  • UH has dropped six of its last seven road games at UNLV. UH is now 6-10 all-time in Las Vegas.
  • The home team won for the 11th time in the last 13 meetings.
  • The teams are tied, 5-5, in Mountain West meetings.
  • UH played its first-ever game in Allegiant Stadium.
 
TEAM STREAKS/TRENDS
  • UH lost its fourth straight conference game.
  • UH has dropped five straight conference road games. UH’s last Mountain West road win can at Fresno State in last season’s season opener in late October.
  • The Warriors will end the regular season with a losing record for the first time since 2017.
 
INDIVIDUAL STREAKS/TRENDS 
  • Matthew Shipley saw his streak of 11 straight field goals end when he missed a 43-yard attempt in the first quarter. His last miss game was Sept. 18 against San Jose State.
  • Shipley, who hit a 32-yarder and 43-yarder later in the game,  is 14-of-16 on the season.
  • Jared Smart saw his team-high string of 34 straight games starts dating back to 2019 come to an end. It was the first time in his UH career Smart did not start.
 
TEAM NOTES
  • UH has forced at least one turnover in nine of 11 games this season and multiple turnovers in seven games after three takeaways against UNLV.
  • UH scored on its first play from scrimmage for the third time this season following Nick Mardner’s 79-yard scoring strike from Chevan Cordeiro. Mardner has scored two of those touchdowns (also at New Mexico State).
  • The 79-yard scoring strike was UH’s longest play from scrimmage this year.
  • Charles Williams 266 yards rushing was the most by a UH opponent since San Jose State’s Deonce Whitaker 278 yards in 2000.
 
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
  • Nick Mardner eclipsed 100 yards receiving for the third time this year and fourth time in his career after finishing with 139 yards on four receptions.
  • Khoury Bethley recorded his team-high fourth interception of the year on a first quarter pick of Cameron Friel.
  • Solo Turner recorded his first career interception with a first-quarter pick of Cameron Friel.
  • After missing the last three games, Dae Dae Hunter returned to the starting lineup. Hunter finished with a team-high 43 rushing yards on nine carries while also catching a pass for three yards.
  • Cameron Lockridge also returned to the starting lineup for the first time since suffering an injury on the opening kickoff of UH’s game vs. Fresno State on Oct. 2. Lockridge notched four tackles.
  • Matthew Shipley tied a career-long with a 53-yard punt in the first half.
  • John Tuitupou blocked Daniel Gutierrez’ 53-yard field goal attempt in the fourth quarter. It was UH’s first blocked field goal since 2018 (Kendall Hune vs. Utah State).
  • Darius Muasau notched a team-high 12 tackles. It was his sixth game this year and 13th in his career in which he had double-digit tackles.
