Head Coach Norm Chow Quotes
On adjusting to San Jose State’s coverages
We started well and their coverage allowed us to go outside, but they changed coverages on us later. We gave up a couple touchdowns and adjusted but it took a little time.”
On UH’s running game
We should’ve been able to run the ball better. We need to get our running game straight, we need to get people healthy, we need to run the ball against the coverages they were running tonight.
On SJSU quarterback David Fales
He’s an awfully good player, he’s a nice young man, I got to know him a little bit, he’s smart and he can keep the plays alive and that’s what good quarterbacks have to do.
San Jose State Head Coach Ron Caragher
On his freshman players coming through
The common theme tonight was freshman. Three combined to rush for over 200 yards and scored three of our touchdowns. I was just proud of how they were able to step up. We had reservations as to how they would handle it having never played a college snap. The offensive line also did a good job in helping us not be one dimensional.
On his defense
It was a great job tonight by the defense. They had three interceptions and a fumble recovery and I couldn’t be prouder of their effort. Winning the turnover battle was huge tonight because we’ve been missing that the last few weeks.
On coming back from a deficit for the first time this season
There were a couple momentum swings in the first and third quarters but the guys held strong which was nice. They could have started to get nervous but they rallied, competed, and stayed the course.
