Nevada vs. Hawai‘i
Aloha Stadium
Nevada coach Chris Ault
On team’s performance:
“It was terrific. We’ve lost the last four times we’ve been here and I’m the one who has been outspoken about it. We have a lot respect for Hawai‘i. I know Norm (Chow, the Hawai‘i head coach), he’s going to get this program going. We were fortunate tonight. I thought we played well on both sides (of the ball). I thought our defense after that first quarter really played well.”
“We know we have a ways to go, but I’m proud of them. It’s a tough venue to play at.”
On Nevada running back Stefphon Johnson tying national record with seven TDs:
“I really didn’t realize that at all. What can you say? He played terrific. He caught a couple of screens, did a great job with it. Our offensive front did a terrific job up front for him, and Stefphon did a great job finding the holes.”
On Nevada’s slow start:
“We executed better. We didn’t make any adjustments at all. Our game plan is our game plan and they responded.”
Hawai‘i coach Norm Chow
On Nevada’s offense:
“Their offense did a nice job against us.”
On the game:
“It’s just one game. It’s a disappointing one. Obviously, we didn’t play as well as we could. Give them an awful lot of credit.”
On upcoming game at BYU, where Chow was an assistant coach:
“I spent some time there, but it was another year, another time.”
