Post-Game Quotes
Hawai‘i vs. Lamar
Sept.  15, 2012

Hawai‘i head coach Norm Chow

On special teams…
“Special teams is very important. We spend a lot of time on special teams. We have a terrific special teams coach. They did a good job as well as the offense and defense.”

On his young team…
“We’re not young anymore. We have to get over that. We have experience. We have two games under our belts.”

On defense…
“The front seven is the strength of our football team. We depend on them, we expect a lot of them. Our No. 1 goal is we need to play good defense. We certainly did that tonight. You feel bad they put the two (points) up because it’s awfully hard to get a shutout in college football”

On quarterback Sean Schroeder…
“Sean is Sean. That’s what we expect from Sean. That’s what we expect from him. We don’t expect spectacular numbers as far as yards are concerned. They we loaded the box. We knew they were going to load the box. We wanted to run it anyway. When it came time to make a play he did.”

Lamar head coach Ray Woodard

General thoughts…
“We played an FBS school. We knew our first three games of the season were going to be tough, playing Louisiana-Lafayette, Prairie View and coming here. We’re going to be a better football team if we handle it right. If we’re mature about it.”

“Give Hawai‘i credit. They played much better. They did a good job after their fiasco at SC. We didn’t help ourselves either. We made a pretty good football team look really good. We’re not going to be anybody the way we played tonight. Our effort was good, our execution was poor.”

“I figured it was going to be a low-scoring game if our defense could keep us in it. It started out that way, but we started turning the ball over. On film, I knew they were a pretty good defense.”

On special teams…
“It wasn’t just one guy. It was a collection of errors. We didn’t help ourselves much.”
