UH tied the all-time series with San Jose State, 16-16-1.
UH has won five straight over the Spartans in San Jose. Its last loss occurred on Nov. 15, 1997 (38-14).
It was the second straight meeting in San Jose that ended in overtime. UH beat the Spartans, 42-35, in 2007.
UH improved to 7-2 all-time in overtime and has won four straight overtime games dating back to 2007, all on the road.
The 17 points were the least amount of points in a UH win since a 13-10 decision at San Jose State in 2003.
UH has gained 400+ yards of offense in four straight games and five of the last six games.
UH has rushed for 100 yards or more as a team in each of the last four games.
Sophomore Shane Austin made his first career start at quarterback in place of Bryant Moniz. Moniz had started the last six contests.
Austin is the third different quarterback to start for UH this year.
Austin scored his first rushing touchdown of his career with a 3-yard run in the first quarter.
Senior wide receiver Jon Medeiros set new career highs with 10 catches and 149 yards
UH has had at least one 100-yard receiver in nine of 11 games this year.
UH did not have a passing touchdown for just the second time this year (at Louisiana Tech, Sept. 30).
Mana Silva has intercepted a pass in three straight games and leads the team with six picks this year.
Lametrius Davis recorded two interceptions versus the Spartans and has three picks on the season.
Since 2006, UH is 13-1 during the month of November, with its only loss to Utah State (Nov. 1) last season.
Greg Salas extended his streak to 25 consecutive games with a reception dating back to last season.
Senior John Estes made his 52nd straight start dating back to his freshman season.
Sophomore wide receiver Joe Avery made first career start in place of Greg Salas. It ended a string of 24 straight starts for Salas.
UH has committed at least one turnover in 35 straight games. The last time that UH went turnover-free in a game was at UNLV on Sept. 15, 2007.
UH returns home for its final two games of the season beginning with a game against Navy on Saturday, Nov. 28.
