Biography

2005 (Junior): After playing her first two seasons at forward, moved to the backline and developed into a dominant central defender …appeared in 17 matches with 13 starts...named to the all-WAC second team…started the year with a bang, scoring a game-winning overtime goal against George Mason (Aug. 26) in the season-opener…named to the OHANA Hotels and Resorts No Ka ‘Oi and Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Soccer Classic all-tournament teams in back-to-back weeks…tabbed as WAC Defensive Player of the Week (Oct. 10) for her role in UH’s back-to-back shutouts against Idaho (Oct. 7) and Boise State (Oct. 9)…recorded her first career  assist in UH’s 3-0 win over the Broncos…notched the sixth goal of her career on the road in UH’s 2-0 victory over WAC rival San Jose State (Oct. 21)…fired 17 shots with seven on goal from her defender position… helped Hawai‘i post six shutouts in eight regular-season conference matches.

2004 (Sophomore): Bounced back early from knee injury that ended her freshman season, but again had season cut short due to injury…played in nine matches...made first career start versus Pacific (Aug. 29)…scored two goals on the year, both game-winners…first goal of the season came on a left-footed rocket in a 3-0 win versus Gonzaga (Sept. 26) at the Montana Fall Classic…also scored game-winner to lift UH to 1-0 over Rice (Oct. 1) in a crucial WAC contest…suffered a knee injury just minutes after scoring the goal versus the Owls and sat out the rest of the year…up to that point had provided team with a valuable threat, having scored twice on five shots.

2003 (Freshman): Appeared in all 17 matches before a season-ending knee injury versus Fresno State (Oct. 17)...backup forward scored two goals on the year, including her first goal in just her second career match versus Bowling Green State (Aug. 31)...also scored at Idaho State in 2-0 win (Oct. 13)...voted the team’s most inspirational player.

Prep: A 2003 graduate of Kahuku High School on O‘ahu…earned four letters in both soccer and track, and two letters in basketball and volleyball…earned first-team all-state honors as a senior, while being named division co-player of the year…garnered all-league honors three times…as a sophomore, won state title in the triple-jump…as a junior, added state titles in 100m high hurdles and high jump…earned honorable mention all-league honors in basketball in 2001…helped Red Raiders to state volleyball crown in 2002…played for the Hawai‘i State Olympic Development Program team…an honor- roll student.

Personal: Born Jan. 5, 1985, in Kahuku, O‘ahu…majoring in family resources...older sister is former Rainbow Wahine forward Natasha … also has one younger sister and three younger brothers…parents are Sharon and Benny Kai of Kahuku, O‘ahu.
