Biography

2012 (Senior): Qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary round…placed 45th in the javelin throw 128-4 (39.12m)…finished sixth at the WAC Outdoor Championship with a result of 137-10 (42.02m)…posted a season-best mark of 5-5.75 (1.67m) in the high jump at the Husky Invitational, which ranks seventh all-time in indoor history…placed first in the javelin throw at the Oxy Invitational with a personal-best mark of 150-4 (45.82m) ranking second all-time in school history…named WAC female field athlete of the week (April 30).

2011: Redshirted.

2010 (Junior): Qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary Round in the javelin…placed seventh at the WAC Outdoor Championships with a throw of 134-3 (40.92m)…seasonal-best throw was 149-6 (45.58m) at the Trojan Invitational (March 20)…also competed in the pole vault during the indoor season…tied for eighth at WAC Indoor with a season-best jump of 11-7.75 (3.55m).

Prior To UH: Attended Cerritos College in Norwalk, Calif., for two years…competed in pole vault, high jump, and javelin…captured the state championship in the pole vault, placed third in the javelin, and tied for fifth in the high jump…finished in the top three in all three events, including winning the pole vault, at the SoCal championships…named All-American in the pole vault and javelin in 2009…two-time all-SoCal and all-conference pick in all three events…holds the school’s pole vault (12-4) and javelin (134-8) records…member of state championship team in 2008 and ’09…scored 19 points at the 2009 state championship.

Latvia Junior National Team: Competed in the European Cup Division I and was a finalist in the pole vault (12-8)…also competed in the Junior European Cup in the pole vault, high jump (5-8) and long jump.

Prep: A 2007 graduate of El Dorado High School in Placentia, Calif…moved to the U.S. from Latvia prior to her senior year…did not compete on the track team due to injuries.

Personal: Born in Riga, Latvia…intends to major in international business or sports management… has lived all over Europe and speaks five languages…has one brother…parents are Uldis Guravskis of Aberdeen, Sweden and Ilona Guravska of Riga, Latvia.
