Biography

2012 (Senior): Qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary final round in the triple jump…finished 15th by posting a seasonal best mark of 41-6.5 (12.66m)…captured the gold medal at WAC Indoor Championship by improving her own school indoor record and posting a seasonal best mark of 41-5 (12.62m)…won the WAC Outdoor title in the triple jump with a mark of 41-1.5 (12.53m)…earned NCAA all-academic honors.

2011 (Junior): Qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary Round for the second straight year…placed 30th with a leap of 39-5.75 (12.03m)…eclipsed school record, which she held, with a jump of 41-8.5 (12.71m) at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational… captured the bronze at the WAC Outdoor Championships with a mark of 40-2.25 (12.25m)…won the silver medal at WAC Indoor with a leap of 39-11.25 (12.17m)...named academic all-WAC.

2010 (Sophomore): Qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary Round in the triple jump…placed 33rd with a mark of 39-10 (12.14m)…captured the silver medal at the WAC Indoor Championships with a jump of 39-11.25 (12.17m),…took eighth at WAC Outdoor with a jump of 38-0.75 (11.60m)… shattered the school’s triple jump record of 41-5.75 (12.64m) at the Trojan Invitational (March 20)…also competed in the long jump and jumped seasonal-best 17-10.25 (5.44m) at the WAC Outdoor Championship.

Prior To UH: Attended the University of Florida for one year…competed in the triple jump…member of SEC Champion outdoor team…placed third at the SEC Outdoor Championships and fourth at the SEC Indoor Championships…also competed in the NCAA East Regionals and placed 11th…named to SEC freshman all-academic team.

Latvia National Team: Latvian junior national record holder in the triple jump (13.22m)…competed in the World Junior Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland in 2008…Latvian indoor national champion (2008)…junior national champion in 2007-08 and youth national champion in 2005-06…placed 12th at the European Junior Championships and finished second at the European Cup in 2007…placed eighth at the World Gymnasiade in Athens, Greece in 2006 and seventh at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy in 2005.

Prep: A 2008 graduate of Ikskile Secondary School in Latvia…competed in the triple jump and long jump…two-time recipient of the Academic Excellence award.

Personal: Born in Riga, Latvia…intends to major in international business…has two brothers…parents are Arturs Apinis and Margarita Apine of Ikskile, Latvia.
