Biography

2023 (Graduate)
  • Named all-Big West honorable mention with partner Sydney Miller.
  • Also earned AVCA Top Flight recognition after winning 75 percent (18-6) of her matches with Miller at the No. 5 court. 
  • Went 20-8 overall on the season, with all but two of those matches paired with Miller.
  • Won 14 of her first 15 matches paired with Miller
  • Earned Big West Pair of the Week after going a perfect 4-0 at the Best in the West Tournament, including the clinching point in UH's 3-2 win over Cal Poly.
  • Won a three-set match against CSU Bakersfield with Sophie Buschmann and lost a two-set match with No. 14 Georgia State in her only two matches not paired with Sydney Miller. 
  • Had seven wins over ranked opponents, including wins over LSU, Long Beach State, Washington, Georgia State and Arizona.
  • Named to the Big West Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Prior to UH:
  • Member of the Saint Mary’s beach volleyball and indoor volleyball teams for four years. 
  • A two-time all-WCC honoree in beach volleyball, including first-team honors in 2022 while playing primarily at the No. 1 flight.
  • Also earned WCC All-Academic honorable mention. 
  • Concluded her beach career at SMC with a 49-39 record.
  • Finished her indoor career with a total of 391 kills, 306 digs, 70 total blocks, 31 service aces, 36 assists, and 460.5 total points. 

Prep:
  • A 2018 graduate of King Kekaulike High School in Kula, Maui.
  • A three-year letterwinner in indoor volleyball.
  • Led her team to three consecutive Maui Interscholastic League Championships (2014-2016) and a fourth-place finish in the 2016 HHSAA state tournament.
  • Earned all-league honors all three years.  
  • Tabbed to the all-state Fab 15, all-Hawaii first team, and voted to the 2016 all-state tournament team 
  • A class valedictorian.

Personal:
  • Born in Kula, Maui.
  • Graduated from Saint Mary’s with a degree in communications. 
  • Pursuing a master’s in communications at UH.
  • Has one older sister and one older brother. 
  • Older brother Colton was an AVCA All-American and national champion with the  Rainbow Warrior volleyball team.
  • Both parents played events in the AVP.
  • Parents are Cody Cowell of Manhattan Beach, Calif., and  Christina Stevens-Cowell of Makawao, Maui.
