Biography

2022-23 (Senior)
  • All-Big West honorable mention.
  • Started all 33 games on the season and all 60 games he appeared in for UH. 
  • A team captain each of the last two seasons.
  • Given the team’s Riley Wallace Leadership Award. 
  • Led the team and ranked fourth in the Big West in rebounds per game (6.6)
  • Also led the team in three-pointers made (67) and three-point field goal percentage (.387).
  • Drained multiple three-pointers in 17 games, including a season-high five (on seven attempts) versus Saint Francis (Dec. 11).
  • Second on the team in scoring (11.5) and blocks (26).
  • Posted a team-high five double-doubles, highlighted by a career-high 30 points and 14 rebounds vs Saint Francis.
  • Also scored 29 points in a road win over Cal Poly (Feb. 4), giving him the team’s top two highest scoring games of the season.
  • Shot 7-of--11 from the field and 11-of-12 from the line while not committing a single turnover in the win over the Mustangs. 
  • Finished the year shooting 42.4 percent from the floor and 84.2 percent from the line.
  • Earned academic all-Big West honors.

2021-22 (Junior)
  • Team tri-captain.
  • Started alli 27 games he appeared in.. 
  • Averaged 9.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game
  • Led the team in blocks (20).
  • Second on the team in three-pointers made (42),  three-point  percentage (.396) and free throw percentage (.804).
  • Registered double-digit points in 11 games.
  • Scored a career-high 19 points twice - vs. Illinois-Chicago and at UC Santa Barbara. 
  • Made at least one three-pointer in 23 of 27 games, including a season-high five at UC Santa Barbara. 
  • Earned the team’s Community Service Award.

Prior to UH
  • Played three years at the University of Texas.
  • Appeared in 60 career games and had 12 starts.
  • Part of the 2021 squad that won the Big 12 Tournament, earned a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament and finished the season ranked in the top 10.
  • Also part of the Longhorns' 2019 NIT championship squad 2020 Maui Invitational championship squad.
  • Scored a career-high 15 points on two occasions -- vs. Oklahoma State as a sophomore and Kansas State as a junior. 
  • An Academic All-Big 12 First Team selection as a sophomore.
  • Recipient of the Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award.

Prep
  • A 2018 graduate of Jefferson High School in Portland, Ore. 
  • Rated as the nation's No. 47 recruit by Rivals.
  • Earned Gatorade State Player of the Year honors in Oregon following his senior year after averaging 16.5 points, 10.4 rebounds and 6.2 blocks per game.
  • Led Jefferson to the 6A state title in both his junior and senior seasons. 
  • Prior to Jefferson, played two seasons at Barrow High School in his native Alaska.
  • Twice named Alaska’s Gatorade Player of the Year.
  • Also led Barrow to back-to-back state championships as a freshman and sophomore. 
  • In all, part of four state title squads and named Gatorade Player of the Year three times.
  • Coming out of high school, earned a spot on the 12-person USA U18 National Team that eventually won the gold medal at the 2018 FIBA Americas U18 Championship in Canada.

  • Has two brothers and two sisters.
  • Graduated from Texas with a degree in sports management and a minor in business.
  • Pursuing a graduate degree at UH in finance.
  • Is of native Hawaiian descent with his father born and raised on Kaua‘i. 
  • Parents are Roland and Raynita Hepa of Utqiagvik, Alaska.
