HONOLULU — Following an MVP performance in the OUTRIGGER Invitational, University of Hawai'i outside hitter Panna Ratkai was named the Old Trapper Mountain West Women's Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
 
Ratkai led the Rainbow Wahine with 52 kills and five aces to help power UH to a 3-0 run in the tournament. The senior hit .284 while averaging a team-high 4.00 kills and 4.65 points per set over the week and was voted the event's Most Valuable Player.
 
Ratkai opened the tournament with 12 kills in a sweep of Utah Tech on Thursday. With Utah Tech threatening to extend the match, Ratkai accounted for four of UH's last five points with three kills and a solo block on match point.
 
The following night, Ratkai put away a season-high 21 kills in 54 attempts and hit .296 in a five-set win over Loyola Marymount. After LMU forced a fifth set, Ratkai scored six of UH's first eight points, including back-to-back aces. She also finished with 10 digs for her second double-double of the season.
 
Ratkai closed the tournament with 19 kills on 50 attempts and two aces in another five-set win over UC San Diego on Sunday. She again sparked UH late in the match with three kills in the decisive fifth set to help the 'Bows finish off the win.
 
The Rainbow Wahine (4-2) close out their season-opening homestand with a two-match series with Central Arkansas on Thursday, Sept. 10 and Friday, Sept. 11 at Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.
