REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i coed sailing team began postseason competition, finishing sixth at the PCCSC Team Race Championship held April 4 and 5th in Redwood City.
Nine schools from the conference went head-to-head in 3-on-3 matchups, completing eight contests in a single round-robin format. The top four teams moved on to a two-round championship, where host Stanford swept the field and won the title.
After finishing second in this event last year, UH ended this year's championship with a 3-5 record, securing wins over USC, UC Santa Cruz and UC Berkeley. The 'Bows fielded four teams: Erik Anderson and Amanda Turner; Everett McAvoy and Alister Muto; Stella Taherian and Martha Schuessler; and Spencer Fleming and Leila Landay.
The Rainbow Sailors will look to bounce back when they travel to Long Beach, Calif., on April 18-19 for the PCCSC Fleet Race Championship and seek a berth into the ICSA National Championship.
