Baseball Returns Home to Host Hilo

HONOLULU – Coming off of a seven-game road trip, the Hawai'i baseball team returns home for a four-game homestand starting Wednesday with an interisland matchup against Hawai'i Hilo.
 
The Rainbow Warriors and Vulcans will meet for the 139th time in the history of the two programs, with UH owning a 117-21 advantage in the all-time series. The 'Bows have won the last nine matchups, with UHH's last win coming on Feb. 13, 2016, beating UH 1-0 in Hilo.

TROPICAL SWARM
The Rainbow Warrior pitching staff remains among the national leaders in several statistical categories. UH is second in the Big West and ranks 11th nationally with a 3.79 ERA. The 'Bows also rank in the top 15 nationally in WHIP (19th), hits allowed per nine innings (18th) and opponent batting average (16th). Additionally, Hawai'i has held opponents to three or fewer runs in 20 of the 39 games and limited them to six or fewer hits 15 times.
 
1,000 WINS AT THE LES
The Rainbow Warriors are three wins away from reaching 1,000 all-time wins at Les Murakami Stadium. Hawai'i heads into Wednesday's game with an all-time record of 997-611-1 at the venue that opened in 1984. UH has won 20 or more games in a season at home 27 times in the 43 seasons that the 'Bows have been playing in Les Murakami Stadium. Since 2023, UH owns an 84-36 record at home winning 51 games between the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
 
POSTSEASON PUSH
Hawai'i heads into the stretch run of the season having won four of its last five Big West series. UH has taken two games out of three against UC Santa Barbara, Cal State Fullerton, UC Irvine and CSU Bakersfield in recent weeks. The Rainbow Warriors currently sit in fifth in the Big West standings - the top five teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the Big West postseason tournament.
 
» Series wins over UC Santa Barbara and Cal State Fullerton, the two teams currently tied for third.
» UH has played five of the top seven teams in the conference, going a combined 7-8 against them.
» All three of UH's final three conference series are against teams below them in the standings.
 
STARTING TO SWING IT
Hawai'i has started to heat up offensively in recent games after struggling to find a rhythm throughout the season. UH is hitting .267 over the last 15 games with double-digit hits in eight of those games and six or more runs scored seven times in that stretch. Prior to this recent eight-game stretch, the Rainbow Warriors were hitting .227 as a team and averaging just 4.5 runs and 7.3 hits per game.
 
» Batting .302 with runners in scoring position in conference games, 33 points higher than the team's average with RISP in all games of .269.
» Tate Shimao is hitting .385 over the last 18 games with seven doubles.
» Shimao also leads the team in hitting in conference games with a .333 batting average and nine doubles with 15 RBIs.
» Ben Zeigler-Namoa has hit safely in 14 of the last 18 games, batting .329 over that stretch.
