HONOLULU — The No. 16 University of Hawai'i beach volleyball team made a triumphant return to the sand on Saturday, securing a pair of victories over Chaminade and Oregon at the Clarence T.C. Ching Complex to kick off Senior Weekend.

Playing their first home matches in more than a month following a 14-match mainland road trip, the BeachBows (15-12) extended their flawless all-time record against unranked opponents at the Ching Complex. UH dropped just one court out of 10 for a dominant day of action over the Ducks (14-12) and Silverswords (4-13).

In their opening match of the day against Oregon, Hawai'i won the first four courts to cruise to victory. Sarah Burton and Sophie Buschmann secured the first point with a 21-10, 16-21, 15-12 three-set victory at the No. 5 flight. Kristen Serrano and Caprice Lorenzo quickly followed with a 21-13, 27-25 win at No. 4, while Julia Thelle and Sydney Miller clinched the overall dual with a 21-13, 21-15 straight-set win at No. 3.

At the top of the order, Julia Lawrenz and Izadora Stedile—the only UH pair to appear in every match together this season—added another point by defeating AJ Slojkowski and Gwen Fife 21-15, 21-12. Oregon's Liz Rossi and Bella Gamache managed to get the Ducks on the board in the final court to finish, outlasting Emily Heintzelman and Kiera Cornman 22-20, 16-21, 15-12 at No. 2.

Later in the day, the Rainbow Wahine showcased their depth against local rival Chaminade with a senior-laden starting lineup. UH swept each court in emphatic fashion. Sydney Amiatu and Burton set the tone early with a 21-12, 21-9 win at No. 5, which was followed by an even more dominant win by Lorenzo and Buschmann who cruised to a 21-7, 21-8 victory at No. 4.

Serrano and Jesse Mann secured a 21-15, 21-8 win at No. 3, while Heintzelman and Miller took the No. 2 flight 21-9, 21-9. Lawrenz and Stedile completed the sweep of the Swords with a 21-12, 21-15 victory at No. 1 as the duo improved to a stellar 19-7 on the year, including 17-6 at the top of the order.

The Rainbow Wahine now focus on their final two home matches of the year on Sunday, April 12 at the Ching Complex. UH takes on Santa Clara at 11 a.m. before facing Oregon in a rematch at 5:30 p.m. The UH-Oregon contest will be televised on Spectrum Sports, and 10 UH players will be honored following that match as part of Senior Night festivities.
