Men's Tennis Travels to Take On Pacific Before Golden State Invitational

STOCKTON, Calif.--The 73rd-ranked University of Hawai'i men's tennis team (4-4, 1-0 Big West) embarks on its second roadtrip of the season this week. First, the Rainbow Warriors will take on the Pacific Tigers (5-5, 0-0 West Coast Conference) before commencing  the 2026 Golden State Invitational hosted by Sacramento State and UC Davis. Hawai'i will play three matches in two days starting with a doubleheader held at the Sacramento State Tennis Complex against Saint Mary's (CA) (5-5, 0-0 WCC) and Sacramento State (6-4, 1-0 Big Sky) on Friday, March 5th. Hawai'i will conclude the tourney with a single match against Nevada (5-2, 0-0 Mountain West) on Saturday, March 7th at the Marya Welch Tennis Center in Davis, Calif..

Tennis Tidbits
  • The Rainbow Warriors made their 2026 debut into the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's DI Poll at No 65 on Feb. 19th. In the most recent poll, the 'Bows are currently ranked at No. 67. It is the first time that the Rainbow Warriors have been ranked under second-year head coach Hendrik Bode, and its the first time UH has been ranked since April 22, 2022 when they were ranked at No. 72.
  • Hawai'i went 2-1 during its last roadtrip, starting with back-to-back 4-0 road sweeps at UC Riverside and vs Northern Arizona. It marked the first time UH has swept two-consecutive opponents since the 2023 season.
  • UH's Azuma Visaya continues to lead the 'Bows in singles with a 5-2 overall record. He has won three of his last four matches all playing at No. 1. 
  • In doubles UH's No. 2 pair of Toa Maeda and Visaya lead UH with a 6-2 dual match record. The duo have won their last five-straight matches
  • In singles, freshman Kent Mueller is second on the team entering this week with a 3-1 record-- he is 2-1 at No. 4 and 1-0 at No. 5.
  • Mueller and doubles partner Adriano Dzhenev together are second on the team with a 3-1 record  playing at No 3
  • With the exception of the 2021 Covid-shortened season and the 2023 season when it was canceled due to inclement weather, this is the seventh time since 2018 that UH has competed in the Golden State Invitational
