Swim & Dive Heads to Houston for Big West Championships

HOUSTON — The University of Hawai'i men's and women's swimming and diving teams are set to compete in the Big West Championships from Wednesday,, Feb. 11 - Saturday, Feb. 14 at the CRWC Natatorium in Houston, Texas.

On the men's side, Hawai'i will compete against Cal State Bakersfield, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, Grand Canyon, and Seattle U. The women's field features Hawai'i, Cal State Bakersfield, UC Davis, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, San Diego, and Seattle U.

Championship action begins at 8:30 a.m. HT (12:30 p.m. CT) with the men's and women's diving team events followed by swimming finals at 2:00 p.m. HT (6:00 p.m. CT).

AT LAST YEAR'S BIG WEST CHAMPIONSHIPS...
  • The Rainbow Warriors finished second overall with 787 points, while the Rainbow Wahine placed third with 715 points.
  • Karol Ostrowski contributed to all four of UH's record-breaking performances, setting new Big West records in the 50 free, 100 free and as a member of the 200 free relay and 200 medley relay teams.
  • Holly Nelson led the Rainbow Wahine swimmers with three golds and three silvers, tallying 51 points.
  • On the diving side, Macie Wheeler became the first Rainbow Wahine to be crowned conference champion in all three diving events — 1-meter, 3-meter and platform — in a single season since Aimee Harrison at the 2016 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships.
  • The Rainbow Warriors swept the diving competitions, led by Juan Esteban Ramirez Tamayo with wins in the 1-meter and platform.

2025-26 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS
  • UH earned six Big West Athlete of the Week awards during the season, including Mario Surkovic (Oct. 14), Holly Nelson (Oct. 28 and Jan. 6), Tim Brown (Dec. 30), Quincy Key (Dec. 30), and Ostrowski (Jan. 6).
  • At the SMU Invitational, Finn Brophy set a program record in the 100 free (42.26), while Zofia Tyminska secured gold in the 100 breast, 200 breast, and 200 IM.
  • Tamayo won the 3-meter diving competition at the CBU Invite with a zone championship-qualifying score of 355.50.
  • UH posted a perfect 24-for-24 performance against Pacific Lutheran on Senior Day and later swept all 13 events against Alaska-Fairbanks in the regular-season finale.
