PALM DESERT, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team move up a few spots after an even par 288 Tuesday in the second round of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate at the Classic Club.
The Rainbow Warriors climbed four spots into a tie for 14
th place with a 583 total heading into Wednesday's final round. Colorado continues to lead the field at 29-under 547, 15 strokes clear of second place Sacramento State (562).
Cameron Combado continues to lead the way for Hawai'i after a 1-under 71. The freshman posted five birdies on his round and started red hot, going 3-under after this first five holes. Combado is even par 144 for the tournament and tied for 44
th place.
Alec Hilgers and
Nathan Szpakowicz each shot even par on Tuesday and each finished with birdies on their final hole, the par-3, No. 12. Hilgers is tied for 60
th place at 2-over 146 while Szpakowicz is tied for 101
st at 153.
Dane Watanabe improved one stroke from his first round score with a 1-over 73 and is tied for 65
th at 3-over 147.
James Whitworth is tied for 94
th at 151.
Colorado's Jackson Rivera holds the clubhouse lead at 8-under 136, one stroke ahead of Wyoming's Brody Knowlton (137). A pack of four golfers, including two of Rivera's Colorado teammates are two strokes back.
Wednesday's final round is scheduled for a 7:45 a.m. PT shotgun start.
