Women's Basketball Opens Road Trip at Cal Poly

HONOLULU — The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team opens a road trip to California's Central Coast by taking on Cal Poly on Thursday, Feb. 19 at the Mott Athletics Center in San Luis Obispo, Calif. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. Pacific Time (4 p.m. Hawai'i Time).
 
The Rainbow Wahine are coming off a sweep of last week's homestand and have won eight of their nine games. UH enters the week sixth in the Big West standings a half-game behind UC Santa Barbara. The 'Bows will face the Gauchos on Saturday to wrap up the road trip.

'BOWS NOTES
  • Freshman guard Bailey Flavell continues to lead the team with 13.2 points per game and is on track to become the first freshman to lead the team in scoring since the 2010-11 season.
  • Freshman guard Keiara Curtis has scored in double figures in 12 of the last 14 games and is averaging 10.9 points per game in Big West play.
  • UH has 150 blocked shots this season, the second highest single-season total in program history. The 'Bows enter the week 13 blocks away from the UH record set in 2002-03 season.
  • UH leads the Big West and ranks fourth in the nation with 6.3 blocks per game. UH's rate of blocked shots remains ahead of the program record of 5.6 set in the 2004-05 season.
  • Senior forward Imani Perez continues to anchor the UH defense and ranks first in the Big West and 27th nationally with 1.83 blocked shots per game.
  • Sophomore center Ritorya Tamilo has 17 blocks over the last six games to jump to third in the Big West at 1.41 per game.
  • Senior forward Saniyah Neverson posted her first UH double-double against CSUN last Saturday and is shooting 55.1% from the field in Big West games to rank second in the conference. 
  • UH remains second in the Big West and ranks 19th nationally in field-goal percentage defense in holding opponents to 36.2% shooting.

  • The Rainbow Wahine and Mustangs meet for the 32nd time in a series that began on Feb. 11, 1978.
  • UH has won the last nine meetings and 13 of the last 14 going back to the 2018-19 season. Cal Poly posted its lone win in that stretch on Feb. 5, 2021, 79-71 in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

  • UH graduate assistant Dyesha Stahley played for Cal Poly from 2015-19, and closed her career sixth in program history with 341 assists. She led the Big West with 5.0 assists and 2.3 steals per game in 2018-19.
