Women’s Golf Climbs Leaderboard at Wallace Classic

PALM DESERT, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team climbed up three spots in the leaderboard of the Alice and John Wallace Classic after a second round 298 Sunday at the Monterey Country Club.
 
The Rainbow Wahine are in 13th place with a two-day total of 608 heading into Monday's final round. Second-ranked USC extended its dominant lead by 24 strokes with a 553 total. No. 11 UCLA is second (577) followed by No. 33 Eastern Michigan (579) and No. 10 Vanderbilt (581).
 
Jasmine Wong fired even par 71 to lead Hawai'i and is currently tied for 37th place at 7-over 149. Maline Kraus carded a second straight 76 and is tied for 52nd at 151 followed by Chloe Ku, who shot 73 and is tied for 58th at 152.
 
Also competing for the Rainbow Wahine are Emiko Sverduk (78=155, t-76th) and Sofina Firouzi (78=155, t-76) while Kaydence Kim is competing as an individual (82=162, t-90th).
 
USC's Catherine Park holds the 36-hole lead at 5-under 137, two strokes ahead of teammate Kylie Chong (139).
 
Monday's final round begins with an 8:00 a.m. PT shotgun start.
