Rainbow Wahine Sweep Doubles Before Rain Suspends Season Opener

HONOLULU — The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team kicked off its 2026-27 season in dominant fashion on Thursday, sweeping doubles play before heavy rain cut Day 1 of the UH Anuenue Invitational short at the UH Tennis Complex

.

The Rainbow Wahine came out on fire against cross-town rival Hawai'i Pacific, surrendering just two games across all three doubles matches

. Hawai'i's Makeilah Nepomuceno and Hannah Galindo pulled away from the Sharks' Eci Roobos and Kaia Sperry, 8-1

. Freshman Malgorzata Bajorek made her UH debut with doubles partner Grete Gull, earning an 8-1 victory over Chelsa Campbell and Willow Dymkowski of HPU

. UH's Emma Forgac teamed up with current assistant coach Peppi Ramstedt to fire a shutout over HPU's Rosa Viller Moeller and Sara White, 8-0, rounding out doubles play

.

Just as singles action was getting underway, the skies opened up, forcing a weather delay and ultimate postponement

. Singles matches will resume on Friday, Oct. 2 at 3:30 p.m. HT as part of Day 2 action at the UH Tennis Complex

. The two teams will finish their Day 1 singles matches before playing another round of singles matches

. No doubles matches are planned for Friday
