HONOLULU — The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team embarks on its first road trip of 2026 to face Big West leader UC Irvine on Saturday, Jan. 10 at the Bren Events Center in Irvine, Calif.
The Rainbow Wahine (6-8, 0-4 Big West) enter the week in search of their first conference win of the season. They opened the new year by dropping both ends of a homestand with losses to UC Riverside and UC San Diego last week. UC Irvine (14-2, 5-0) enters Saturday's game on a 13-game winning streak and atop the Big West standings.

'BOWS NOTES
- Freshman guard Bailey Flavell continues to lead the 'Bows with 13.4 points per game. She's scored in double figures in 11 games, including the last four in a row, and scored nine in the other three. She also leads the team with 19 3-pointers.
- Guard Keiara Curtis set a season high with 17 points against UC Riverside on Jan. 1 and has scored in double figures in each of the last four games. The freshman averaged 14.3 points while shooting 47.6% from the field over that span.
- Senior forward Imani Perez ranks second in the Big West and 42nd nationally with 25 blocked shots. She became the eighth UH player to surpass 100 blocks in a career during last week's homestand. She also leads the team with 6.5 rebounds per game.
- As a team, UH leads the Big West and rose to 12th nationally with 6.1 blocks per game. UH blocked 14 shots at Cal State Fullerton on Dec. 6 to tie the program's single-game record previously set in 2005.
- Saniyah Neverson had 11 points in both of last week's games and shot 62.5% from the field. The senior is third on the team in scoring (7.4 points per game) and second in rebounding (4.6 rebounds per game). Neverson and Flavell are the only 'Bows to start all 14 games this season.
- With Flavell and Curtis leading the way, UH's six true freshmen have contributed 48.9% of the team's scoring.
- UH is 0-4 in conference play for the first time since the 2010-11 season as a member of the Western Athletic Conference.
- This season marks UH's farewell campaign in the Big West before joining the Mountain West starting with the 2026-27 season.

- Hawai'i and UC Irvine meet for the 55th time in a series that began in 1985.
- UH has won the last four meetings, sweeping the series the last two seasons. UC Irvine's last win vs. UH came on Feb. 25, 2023, 68-66 in overtime in Irvine, Calif.
- UH leads 16-11 in meetings played in Irvine. The 'Bows won last year's meeting at the Bren Events Center 49-44.
- UH and UC Irvine have combined to win the last four Big West regular-season titles. UH finished atop the standings in 2022, '24 and '25 followed by UCI. The Anteaters captured the title in 2023.
- UC Irvine head coach Tamara Inoue is in her 10th season with the Anteaters and has a record of 175-118. She has led UCI to at least 21 wins each of the last four seasons.
- UC Irvine enters the game with a 13-game winning streak that began on Nov. 15. The Anteaters haven't lost since Nov. 12 at Idaho State. They opened the week with a 78-59 win at Long Beach State on Thursday.
- UCI opened 2026 by sweeping a homestand with wins over Cal State Bakersfield and Cal State Fullerton.
- The Anteaters lead the Big West in nine statistical categories, including scoring offense (73.5 ppg), scoring defense (57.8). They rank second in the nation in free-throw percentage (82.0) and free throws made per game (19.13).
- Guard Hunter Hernandez won three consecutive Big West Player of the Week awards. The senior leads the Big West in total points (307) and ranks third in points per game (19.2).
- Guard Jada Wynn ranks second in the Big West with 60 assists and is fourth with 8.0 rebounds per game and ninth with 15.2 points per game.
