- This week is UH's Homecoming. Hawai'i is 42-30-1 all-time on its Homecoming and have won six of its last seven.
- PSU was Hawai'i's Homecoming opponent in 1976 and '77, both of which resulted in UH wins (20-17 in 1976 and 21-12 in 1977).
- This year's Homecoming Game marks the earliest in school history. Previously the earliest Homecoming Game was Sept. 17, 2022 versus Duquesne.
- Head coach Timmy Chang has a 2-1 mark on Homecoming. As a player, Chang won all four of his Homecoming Game starts.
- UH and PSU opened the 2021 season, which marked the first-ever game at Clarence T.C. Ching Complex. The Rainbow Warriors won that contest, 49-35.
- Hawai'i has a 23-game win streak over FCS opponents dating back to 2001. UH's last loss was against Portland State in the 2000 season-opener.
- Chang has a 4-0 career record against FCS opponents.
- UH (2-1) opened its three-game homestand last week in Honolulu with a 37-20 victory over Sam Houston. Junior QB Luke Weaver made his first career start as a Rainbow Warrior and threw for 294 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 26 yards in the victory.

UH's last true three-game homestand was the final three games of the 2015 season.
