ON THE PITCH
DID YOU KNOW?
The Rainbow Wahine have twice erased multi-goal deficits in the second half to come back and salvage a tie. UH scored twice in the final 20 minutes at Pepperdine on Aug. 17 while striking for a pair of goals in the last 25 minutes vs. California Baptist on Aug. 31.
HAPPY TO BE HOME
The Rainbow Wahine saw a little bit of everything in their four-match nonconference homestand. UH picked up a 1-0 win over Central Arkansas in the opener at Waipi'o Soccer Stadium on Aug. 21 while a 2-2 tie vs. California Baptist on Aug. 31 bookended a pair of losses to Oregon and Northern Arizona. The five goals scored during the homestand all came from different players.
Caroline Carter scored her first career goal to lift UH to the 1-0 win over UCA while
Izzy Ayala and
Cate Sheahan each delivered second-half goals to salvage a 2-2 tie against California Baptist on Aug. 31.
MIX & MATCH
UH head coach
Michele Nagamine has tinkered with her lineup throughout nonconference play looking to find the right fit heading into Big West conference action. The Rainbow Wahine have used a different staring lineup in each of the first six matches while 19 different players have earned a start. Additionally, 25 of the potentially active 26 players have gotten action this season while 20 have seen at least 100 minutes of time on the pitch. UH has also rotated its keepers all year, with no keeper playing more than one half at a time.
RAINBOW RELOAD
The Rainbow Wahine will welcome in a talented group of eight newcomers to compliment their deep pool of returnees. UH brings in three players out of the transfer portal while adding five freshmen to the mix in 2025. Defenders
Rikako Hayami and
Solala Nasu will fill some key roles on the back line while three-year Division I goalkeeper
Julia Ortega gives UH depth in the net.
Isabella Kaemmerer,
Karissa Kira,
Saira Johal and
Montana Longcrier make up the group of four incoming true freshmen.
» Hayami spent the 2024 season at Arizona and previously was an NJCAA All-American in 2023.
» Nasu returns home after spending freshman season at South Dakota State; was the three-time HHSAA State Tournament Most Outstanding Player from 2022-24.
» Ortega has totaled 137 saves in 29 career starts in goal at Southern Utah and Arizona State.
» Kaemmerer and Kira were high school and club teammates, winning an ECNL U17 national title in 2024.
