HONOLULU – The Hawai'i women's soccer team captured its first victory of the 2026 season with a hard-fought 2-0 shutout over Idaho on Saturday afternoon at the UH Lower Campus Field.
Rainbow Wahine (1-3-0) weathered a heavy attacking effort from the Vandals (2-1-1), getting out-shot 17-7, but capitalized beautifully on their opportunities to close out the OUTRIGGER Invitational with a win.
The Bows broke the ice in the 24th minute during a frantic sequence in the box. After a shot by junior defender
Laule'a Ah Mook Sang was turned away by an Idaho defender on the goal line, senior
Anuhea Aluli pounced on the loose ball.
Fed by an assist from junior defender
Piper Bertani, who played the ball back to the front of the goal after Ah Mook Sang's shot, Aluli cleanly slotted her strike past Idaho goalkeeper Paula Flores at the 23:49 mark to put Hawai'i ahead 1-0. It marked Aluli's second goal of the young season, and third consecutive match with a point.
In the 79th minute, freshman sensation
Olivia Dianda found herself in space and unleashed an unassisted strike at the 78:58 mark that beat Flores into the back of the net. The insurance goal was Dianda's second of the season after she struck for the first time in her collegiate career on Thursday.
Junior goalkeeper
Kennedy Justin was once again a rock in the net, making three of her game-high six saves in the opening 45 minutes to preserve the narrow lead going into the intermission. By keeping the clean sheet, Justin earned her first solo shutout of the 2026 season and the eighth of her career, moving her into sole possession of seventh place all-time in program history.
The Rainbow Wahine will continue their homestand as they host local opponent Hawai'i Pacific on Saturday 4:00 p.m. on the UH Lower Campus.
