Justin Earns Spot On Hermann Trophy Watch List

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Hawai'i goalkeeper Kennedy Justin earned a spot on the Hermann Trophy Preseason Watch List, awarded annually to the top collegiate women's soccer player in the country, the United Soccer Coaches announced Thursday.

Justin is one of just three goalkeepers to be named to the watch list and the only player overall from the Big West. Earlier in the preseason, she was named one of 13 goalkeepers to watch nationally.

The 2024 Big West Goalkeeper of the Year is coming off of a redshirt freshman season in which she was named first-team All-West Region by the United Soccer Coaches while earning first-team All-Big West and All-Freshman honors.

Justin became the first ever freshman to earn Big West Goalkeeper of the Year honors in the 22 seasons of the award and just the second UH player to take home the honor. She matched a school single-season record for goalkeeper wins going 11-8-1 while setting a program record with five consecutive shutouts from Sept. 26-Oct. 13, going 496 straight minutes without allowing a goal.

The Long Beach, Calif. native posted a goals against average of 0.62 in conference play, giving up just one second-half goal in 10 matches. Justin finished the season with 70 saves and earned Big West Defensive Player of the Week honors in back-to-back weeks amidst her streak of five consecutive clean sheets.
