IRVINE, Calif. – Helen Hoadley broke her own program record in the pole vault and
Lilian Turban turned in a pair strong performances to lead the Hawai'i track and field team on the final day of the Steve Scott Invitational Saturday.
Hoadley highlighted the day by setting the program record in the pole vault for the second time this year, clearing 4.20m (13-9.25) to edge out her previous best of 4.18m. Hoadley cleared the mark on her third attempt at 4.20m and was the only one in the field to clear the final two heights of 4.10m and 4.20m. She also holds the school record in the indoor pole vault at 4.13m.
Turban opened the action on the field by taking home her third victory of the season in the high jump. The senior and 2024 All-American matched a season-best with a mark of 1.76m (5-9.25) to pick up a win heading into the Big West Championships.
Turban added to her big day with a PR in the shot put to cap off the meet. The Tallinn, Estonia native moved up to seventh on the UH all-time top 10 list in the event with a toss of 14.67m (48-1.75), bettering her previous personal best of 14.45m (47-5) by over half a foot.
Freshman
Nora Fischer added her name to the school top 10 list in the 400m, stopping the clock in 56.43 to move into eighth all-time at UH. Fellow freshman
Amelie Fairclough came in right behind her at 56.98, narrowly missing out on entering the program top 10 herself.
UH ended the meet by delivering its best performance of the year in the 4x400m relay, as the squad of Fairclough, Fischer,
Marissa Crane and
Isabella Kneeshaw vaulted into third in program history with a time of 3:44.76. The Rainbow Wahine 4x100m relay squad of
Deiona Carter, Fischer, Fairclough and Kneeshaw also posted a season-best time of 46.85 to move into eighth all-time at UH.
The Rainbow Wahine open the Big West Championships with the multi events Friday and Saturday in Long Beach, Calif.
