The University of Hawai'i men's golf team will make its third consecutive appearance at the R.E. Lamkin Invitational, March 10-11 at the San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista, Calif.
The 18
th annual tournament is co-hosted by San Diego State and the University of San Diego and will be held over two days at the 7,033-yard, par-72 course located 12 miles outside of downtown San Diego.
Participants will play 36 holes on Monday with a shotgun start of 7:30 a.m. PT and 18 holes on Tuesday with tee times off of holes No. 1 and No. 10 beginning at 8:00 a.m. PT.
The 16-team field feature seven teams ranked in the Top 50 – No. 22 BYU, No. 25 San Diego State, No. 32 Notre Dame, No. 33 Colorado, No. 35 San Diego, No. 44 Colorado State, and No. 47 New Mexico. Also competing are UC San Diego, Saint Mary's, Fresno State, Loyola Marymount, Wyoming, Santa Clara, Cal Poly, and UC Davis.
UH, which is coming off a 16
th place finish at the John Burns Intercollegiate last month in Līhu'e, Kaua'i, finished in a tie for 11
th place at last year's Lamkin Invitational.
Blaze Akana tied for fifth at 7-under 209.
Among the Rainbow Warriors competing in this year's event,
Josh Hayashida tied for 33
rd and
Dane Watanabe placed 91
st last year. In addition,
Tyler Ogawa competed in the 2023 event and finished in 94
th place.
Following the Lamkin Invite, UH will next compete in the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate, March 17-18 in Tucson, Ariz.
