Louis Sakanoko and setter
Tread Rosenthal were honored by the Big West for their performances in a two-match series sweep of UC San Diego over the weekend.
Sakanoko was named Offensive Player of the Week – his first career award – while Rosenthal was Setter of the Week for the fifth time this season.
A UH player has earned offensive player of the week four times this season and Sakanoko joins
Kristian Titriyski and
Adrien Roure who were previously honored. Last season, Sakanoko earned Freshman of the Week honors four times.
Rosenthal's five setter of the week awards is the most of any Big West setter this season.
Louis Sakanoko
- Averaged 4.00 kills per set and 4.64 points per set
- Hit .412 in the series with only seven attack errors in 51 attempts
- Also averaged 1.71 digs per set and 0.57 blocks per set and tallied two aces
- Had 13 kills, hitting .409 with seven digs and one ace in a straight-set win in the series opener
- Team-best and season-high 15 kills, hitting .414 with five digs, four blocks, and an ace in a four-set win in the rematch
- Only UH player with double-digit kills in both matches of the series
Tread Rosenthal
- Averaged 10.57 assists per set and led UH to a team hitting percentage of .360
- Also averaged 1.00 kills per set, a team-best 1.86 digs per set, and 0.43 blocks per set
- Hit .462 with seven kills in 13 attempts
- Dished out 33 assists with three kills, one ace, six digs, three blocks in the series opener while leading UH to a .326 hitting percentage
- Tallied 41 assists, four kills and a team-best seven digs in the rematch while directing an offense that hit .390
