HONOLULU — University of Hawai'i senior Bernadette Doyle was among 20 student-athletes named to the Cutino Award Watch List on Friday in an announcement from USA Water Polo, The Olympic Club and the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches.
 
The Peter J. Cutino Award, named in honor of the late Hall of Fame coach, recognizes the best player in men's and women's college water polo. This watch list was created in 2022 in an effort to help promote the college game, awareness of the honor, and the excellent play of athletes across the country.
 
Doyle, an attacker from Auckland, New Zealand, enters the week second on the team with 55 total points with 34 goals and 21 assists. She also leads the third-ranked Rainbow Wahine with 29 steals and nine field blocks.
 
She has scored at least three goals in eight matches this season with high of five in a win at UC Santa Barbara on March 7. She also had three each in wins over California and UCLA in the Barbara Kalbus Invitational that helped elevate the 'Bows to No. 3 in the national polls. Doyle was named the Big West Player of the Week on Wednesday after posting a hat trick and scoring the golden goal in an overtime win over No. 6 Long Beach State on March 15 at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.
 
While it's possible the 2025 Cutino Award winner will come from the watch list, this list of honorees is completely independent from the nomination and voting process of the Cutino Award as that honor will acknowledge the full impact of the 2025 season.
