The No. 17 University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine beach volleyball team makes a return trip to California for the Big West Challenge, March 21-23 on the campus of Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo.
 
The Rainbow Wahine (6-10) will take on six Big West opponents over the span of three days in a prelude to the Big West Championship late next month in Santa Monica. It will be the first time UH meets its rivals since capturing last year's conference tournament in Long Beach. 
 
UH has already faced seven Top 10 opponents this year, and two more await the 'Bows this weekend. UH will face host and No. 6 Cal Poly on Friday evening before taking on  No. 8 Long Beach State to conclude the tournament on Sunday, March 23. 

The 'Bows return to California after competing this past weekend at the East Meets West Invitational in Manhattan Beach, going 1-3 at the prestigious event.

All-Time Series Records: UH is 10-1 against UC Davis, with two wins last year, including a 3-0 win in the Big West Championship semifinal…UH's lone loss to the Aggies came in the 2022 Big West Challenge at  Rosie's Dog Beach in Long Beach...that loss to UCD snapped UH's 105-match win streak against unranked opponents that stretched for nearly 10 years…UH is 15-12 all-time against Cal Poly, including 2-4 in San Luis Obispo…the Mustangs have won the last two meetings, including a 5-0 win in last year's Big West Challenge in Sacramento.…the 'Bows are a perfect 11-0 all-time versus CSU Bakersfield with all but one of those wins coming on a neutral court…the 'Bows are 6-0 against Sacramento State with five of the wins via shutout...the 'Bows are 10-0 against CSUN who is led by former UH great Ari Homayun…all 10 wins have come via shutout...UH is 26-9 all-time against LBSU…the 'Bows have won 10 of the last 11 meetings with Long Beach State…UH won all three matchups last year, one in the Challenge and the other two in the Big West Championship.

Versus Ranked Squads: UH is 105-103 (.505) all-time versus ranked squads, including 1-10 this season…all but one of the losses have come against teams ranked in the Top 12…UH is 49-35 against ranked squads at a neutral site and 11-16 against ranked teams on the road.  

'Bow Bits: UH has used a 11 different combinations this year…the No. 1 pair of Sarah Burton and Caprice Lorenzo and the duo of Jesse Mann and Jasmine Wandeler, who have toggled between the No. 3 and 4 courts, are the only pairs to appear in all 16 matches together…Mann and Wandeler are a team best 9-7 on the year, including 5-1 at the No. 3 flight…the duo have gone 8-2 in their last 10 matches with all eight wins coming via straight sets… Alana Embry and Julia Lawrenz were paired together during the Heineken Queen's Cup and have won seven of nine matches at the No. 2 court while going 0-1 at the top of the order…the BeachBows are 3-15 this season in three-set matches.
