Rainbow Wahine Place Eighth at St. Mary’s Fleet Race

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine sailing team wrapped up another East Coast regatta this weekend, placing eighth at the St. Mary's Fleet Race Mar. 15-16, on the St. Mary's River

The Rainbow Wahine made the cross-country trip to compete in a field of 18 schools. UH dramatically improved from the last trip to Saint Mary's, finishing eight places higher than their last appearance in 2017. With the A and B divisions completing 12 races each, the 'Bows featured six different sailors at this regatta: Vivian Bønsager, Malia Johnson, and Stella Taherian in the A division, and Martha Schuessler, Morgan Carew, and Sophia Shaeffer in the B division

UH's A division finished with 102 points, B division with 99, for a total of 201. Host St. Mary's finished just six points back of the 'Bows in ninth place, and Georgetown easily secured the event, scoring a regatta-low 58 points.

The Rainbow Wahine will be action in their home waters of Keehi Lagoon when they host the PCCSC Spring Championships held Apr. 4-6.
