HONOLULU – Six University of Hawai'i sailors have received national recognition for their outstanding work in both their athletic and academic years. The Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) selected Amanda Turner, Arden Rathkopf, Erik Anderson, Kahlia Bailey, Kylie Alexander, and Peyton Lieser to its 2025-26 All-Academic Sailing Team.
The ICSA All-Academic Sailing Team recognized 255 juniors and seniors from across the nation who participated as a competitor or alternate in at least seven regattas during the season, and had a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
The All-PCCSC skipper-crew pair of Anderson and Turner earned academic honors in consecutive years. The respective mechanical engineering and biology majors are set to graduate this spring semester. The A division mainstay duo sailed nearly every race together for the coed team and found great success within the division. Turner will be joining the women's team for the ICSA National Championship coming up this weekend, May 15-18, in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Rathkopf, Bailey, Alexander, and Lieser all received recognition for the first time.
Rathkopf, a marine biology major, holds the distinction of being the only junior from UH on this year's list. Appearing in exactly seven regattas, his season was highlighted by a contribution in the 'Bows' fourth-place finish at the L.A. Harbor Cup.
Bailey, Alexander, and Lieser are all expected to graduate this spring, concluding their collegiate careers with the academic honors. Bailey sailed a majority of her races as a skipper with Alexander at crew. The business major and anthropology and psychology double major, respectively, notably placed second in the A division as a pair at the Jeff Simon Women's Regatta in January. Lieser, a sustainability major, appeared in 13 regattas as a crew.
