The University of Hawai'i men's golf team will compete in the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate, Monday, March 17 and Tuesday, March 18 at the Tucson Country Club in Tucson, Ariz.
 
The 13-team tournament is hosted by the University of Arizona and will be held over two days, 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. The tournament begins on Monday with tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. MT.
 
The field includes No. 10 Utah, No. 22 Mississippi State, No. 25 Arizona, No. 29 Long Beach State, California, New Mexico State, Northern Illinois, Oregon State, UTEP, Washington State, Wichita State, Wyoming.
 
UH is coming off a 16^th place finish at the Lamkin Invitational in Chula Vista, Calif., last week. This year marks the first appearance at the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate.
 
Hawai'i will send a contingent of seven golfers, including two individuals. The five-member squad includes Tyler Ogawa, Josh Hayashida, Dane Watanabe, James Whitworth, and Anson Cabello while Nathan Szpakowicz and Garrett Takeuchi are competing as individuals.
 
Hayashida leads the team with a 72.37 scoring average while Ogawa has a team-best 12 rounds of par or better including six in the 60s. Hayashida was UH's top finisher at the Lamkin Invitational.
 
Following the Thunderbirds Intercollegiate, UH will make its annual trip to Santa Cruz, Ariz., for the Western Intercollegiate, April 14-16 at the famed Pasatiempo Golf Club.
