TOKYO, Japan -- The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (3-2, 1-0 Big West) travels to Japan this week to play four exhibition matches against collegiate teams. The Rainbow Wahine will be making stops on the way from Tokyo to Osaka on the island of Honshu from Feb. 5-9.
The Rainbow Wahine will start off the trip taking on Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan on Wednesday, Feb. 5. They will then head over to the historical town of Hyogo, Japan to take on Himeji University on Thursday, Feb. 6. Following that matchup, the team heads to Kobe City, Japan to take on Konan University on Friday, Feb. 7. UH will conclude their trip playing at Kansai University in Osaka, Japan on Sunday, Feb. 9.
Overall, through the first four weeks of the spring season, the Rainbow Wahine have had some standouts in singles. Senior
Peppi Ramstedt leads the 'Bows with an undefeated 5-0 dual match record playing at No. 1-3. Junior
Joelle Lanz has an overall 6-5 record with a 3-2 dual match record playing at the No. 4-6. Senior
Nikola Homolkova also has recorded three singles wins in dual match play.
In doubles, UH's
Sheena Masuda and
Peppi Ramstedt have posted an overall record of 5-7 while going 3-1 in dual matches at No. 1-2. The Rainbow Wahine duo of
Hannah Galindo and
Makeilah Nepomuceno also have a 5-7 overall record while going 3-1 in dual matches at No. 2-3.
