HONOLULU — The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team brings the program's longest winning streak in a decade back to SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center for a two-game Big West homestand starting Thursday against Cal Poly.
The Rainbow Wahine (15-6, 9-2 Big West) return home coming off a sweep of last week's road trip and their nine-game winning streak is the longest since a run of 15 consecutive wins in the 2014-15 season. They enter the week tied with UC Irvine for first place in the conference standings.
UH's current run began with a 62-50 win over Cal Poly on Jan. 4 in San Luis Obispo, Calif. They'll close the homestand on Saturday by taking on UC Santa Barbara, which handed the 'Bows their most recent loss on Jan. 2 in Santa Barbara.

Three UH players rank in the top 10 in the Big West in blocks per game — Ritorya Tamilo (fourth, 1.40 bpg), Imani Perez (ninth, 1.05) and Brooklyn Rewers (10th, 0.95). Perez is one block away from joining the program's career top 10.
- UH also ranks 31st nationally in 3-point percentage defense at 27.1%.
'BOWS NOTES
- Lily Wahinekapu continues to lead the team with 10.8 points per game, 58 assists and 28 steals. The senior is 12 points away from reaching 1,000 in her UH career. She has a total of 1,415 points including her freshman year at Cal State Fullerton (2021-22).
- Imani Perez has scored in double figures five of the last seven games, averaging 11.7 points while shooting 58.2% from the field over that span, including 37.5% (9 for 24) from 3-point range. The junior is shooting 55.6% in conference play.
- MeiLani McBee has 192 3-pointers for her career and is 13 away from the program's record held by Amy Atwell (2016-22). The senior has played in 129 games in her career, including the last 112 in a row, and moved past Atwell as the program's all-time leader on Jan. 25 against UC Irvine.
- Kelsie Imai scored a season-high 10 points at UCSD on Jan. 30 and had four assists against the Tritons to move into UH's career top 10. She is now tied with Jade Abele (2002-05) for eighth with 295. She is also tied for third in games played with 125.
- Ritorya Tamilo posted the first double-double of her career with 11 points and 11 rebounds against UC Irvine on Jan. 25. The freshman is third on the team with 7.8 points per game and is shooting a team-high 50.9% from the field. She also leads the team with 100 rebounds (5.0 per game) and 28 blocked shots.
- Brooklyn Rewers led UH with 11 points at Cal State Fullerton last weekend and has provided a boost off the bench by scoring in double figures in nine of the last 13 games. She is averaging 7.9 points and 5.1 rebounds in Big West play.
- UH head coach Laura Beeman earned her 600th win of her career on Jan. 16 at CSUN. She posted 390 wins at Mt. San Antonio College (1994-2010) and now has 215 over her 13 seasons leading the Rainbow Wahine.
THE MATCHUP
- The Rainbow Wahine and Mustangs meet for the 30th time in a series that began on Feb. 11, 1978, a 57-54 Cal Poly win in Honolulu.
- UH has won the last seven meetings and 11 of the last 12 going back to the 2018-19 season. Cal Poly posted its lone win in that stretch on Feb. 5, 2021, 79-71 in San Luis Obispo.
- UH is 8-4 at home against Cal Poly and has won the last four meetings in Honolulu. Cal Poly last defeated the 'Bows in Hawai'i on March 3, 2018 (67-61).
- UH won this season's first meeting 62-50 on Jan. 4 at the Mott Athletics Center to start its current winning streak. The 'Bows took control with a 19-5 second quarter and MeiLani McBee and Lily Wahinekapu led UH with 14 points each. Sierra Lichtie led Cal Poly with 11 points and six rebounds.
- Cal Poly leads the Big West and ranks sixth nationally in 3-point percentage defense, holding opponents to 24.5% shooting beyond the arc.
- Cal Poly guard Annika Shah leads the Mustangs and ranks fourth in the Big West with 14.3 points per game.
- Shah leads the conference in and ranks 18th in NCAA Division I with 2.81 3-pointers per game. She also leads the Big West with 59 3-pointers made and 148 attempts. Her 3-point percentage of 39.9% ranks third.
- Cal Poly coach Shanele Stires is in her third season leading the Mustangs and has a record of 37-43.
- Cal Poly assistant coach Samba Johnson is a graduate of Chaminade University of Honolulu.
- UH graduate assistant Dyesha Stahley played for Cal Poly from 2015-19, and closed her career sixth in program history with 341 assists. She led the Big West with 5.0 assists and 2.3 steals per game in 2018-19.
